In recent years, aging population has always been a concerned and valued issue. As the society gradually develops into an aging society, care for the elderly population has become a crucial issue. This paper was thus aimed to establish a mechanism of effective long-term care on a body sensor network to ensure the mobile security and emergency monitoring of the elderly population and further facilitate elderly welfare as well as provide medical personnel with necessary information and assistance. This study was focused on investigating health care within a body sensor network, and, through the information received between sensors, introducing the concept and mechanism of learning to fulfill follow-up processing and applications. As for power-saving, the power of a body sensor network was supplied by batteries. If the learning mechanism brought up in this paper is applied to power-saving issues, it will effectively save 45% of power comparing with full-speed transmission under a normal situation. Effective long-term monitoring was thus, achieved in this paper. Keywords: body sensor network, power saving, learning mechanism, health care
