New Playback-Head Azimuth Test

Werner Singhoff · Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · 1993

The traditional practice for testing and aligning the azimuth angle of a playback head is to observe the output level or the phase correlation. For this purpose it is necessary during playback of the azimuth section of a calibration tape to misalign and subsequently realign the head azimuth to find the maximum output level or best possible phase correlation
