Wireless Data–Introduction
Aftab Ahmad · 2005
By outlining some characteristics specific to the voice signal the chapter begins with a discussion on why traditional voice networks were customized to voice only. Then, we outline various types of wireless networks used for packet data transmission. This includes the range from personal area networks to satellite networks. In the end is a fairly comprehensive discussion on the wireless spectrum allocated for these various network types. The spectra discussed include licensed as well as license-exempt ones. References are included at the end of chapter.
