Compression is the process of changing the data into a code to save storage space and time for data transmission. One of the data compression technique is the Huffman algorithm. Huffman method is one of data compression techniques are loseless. This method uses the principle that the value of gray that often appear in the image will be encoded with the number of bits less, whereas the frequency of gray value that appear less (rarely) is coded with the number of more bit. Compression is done by a binary tree of probability values redundant data. On these reason, the writer intend to make the application image compression and decompression using the Huffman coding method using the software Borland Delphi 7. The purpose of this research is to implement the Huffman algorithm on the process of compression and decompression of image data into an application program.
