this article, is actively involved in developing intelligent multi-agent systems and one goal is to apply the research to design and build agent-based learning environments. The Department of Computer Science at "Politehnica" has also recently made a proposition of an academic Joint European Tempus Phare project devoted to graduate and post-graduate education in the domain of virtual organizations design and use. The project, which involves five Romanian and eight EU partners, has as one of its goals the development of a user-centered virtual learning environment in which CSCW and intelligent agent technologies will play a key role. The realization of the project will contribute to the preparation of both computer professionals and users for the future information society in Romania.
