Autonomous Very Low Frequency Receiver (VLF)
Neil Cobbett, Mark A. Clilverd · 2012
An autonomous VLF receiver has been developed and deployed in Antarctica. Using a transmitter in Hawaii, ionospheric and magnetospheric studies can be undertaken using receivers in Antarctica where background noise levels are low. The autonomous system enables installations in remote areas with an Iridium satellite uplink for data transfer. An acoustic receiver is used together with a processor board to acquire data, store and hold.
