Concurrency annotations improve reusability
Klaus‐Peter Löhr · 1992
Concurrency annotations can be inserted as comments into sequential object-oriented code. The annotated code has a concurrent interpretation that is closely related to the sequential What kind of language should be used for interpretation. Carefully chosen annotations lead concurrent object-oriented programming? A to a declarative style of concurrent object- coarse classification of possible languages can be oriented programming and avoid problems with given as follows: the interplay between concurrency and inheritance known from other approaches. It is argued that 1. concurrent languages designed from scratch concurrency annotations support a high degree of (example: POOL-T [America 87] [America reusability in integrated sequential/concurrent 89]); software development. 2. concurrent extensions of sequential languages (example: Concurrent C++ [Gehani/Roome 88]); 3. sequential languages supported by concurrency libraries (example: Eiffel// [Caromel 9...
