Children and Animated Computer Icons
Tom Jones · Journal of Research on Computing in Education · 1990
The introduction and popularity of the direct manipulation interface (pointing device and icons) for the general population of microcomputer users has challenged educational researchers to investigate the features of these enhanced user interfaces in order to provide educational software developers with empirically-based guidelines for child-computer interaction. A study was carried out to determine how young children conceive of typical computer related tasks (move, copy, cut) and how this information might be used to generate animated icons.
