A response to the findings of the initial survey of the COMSEC Secure Telephone Unit (STU-II), intended for use by the National Security Technology Program Office, will not be addressed. A final inspection for security-plan approval was conducted on 9 April 1985 by Messrs. Sieracki and Charters, and all security and administrative deficiencies had been corrected. Subsequent approval of the security plan and STU-II operation was formally granted by a letter from DOE-RL ADP, dated 17 April 1985.
