OASIS: Prototyping Graphical Interfaces to Networked Information.
Michael K. Buckland · 1993
The OASIS project is undergoing a complete revamping with the goal of giving it a flexible graphical interface, more powerful analysis tools, and broader searching capabilities. A new X Windows interface is being linked to a search and analysis backend written primarily in Emacs Lisp to take advantage of its advanced string processing functions and multiple buffering features. The structure of OASIS will be more object-oriented, implementing modules that can be modified, reused, and recombined. Original OASIS features, such as FEWER, SUMMARIZE, and SORT, have been retained and enhanced. (For a discussion of these OASIS commands, see [Norgard 93].)
