Performance of BPSK/BPSK and OQPSK/BPSK spread spectrum communication systems in the presence of multiple-tone jammer

Gengyin Chen, Reza R. Adhami · 2003

The error probability of BPSK/BPSK (binary phase-shift keying to binary phase-shift keying) and OQPSK/BPSK (offset quadrature phase-shift keying to binary phase-shift keying) direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication systems in the presence of the multiple-tone jammer is developed using a simple analytical technique. To measure the bit error probability, it is necessary to know the statistics of the data, jammer, and noise signals at the output of the correlator. If the power of jammer signal is much higher than that of noise signal at the output of the integrator, then the noise can be ignored. Coherent synchronization is assumed throughout. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the analytical results. According to the resulting curves, BPSK/BPSK and OQPSK/BPSK have the same performance, This result is not surprising because it has been shown previously; however, the authors' technique for computing the performance is much simpler than the previous methods and is computationally inexpensive.>
