Asymptotic behavior of large solutions of elliptic equations

In this paper we give a survey of the result concerning the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of △u = f(u) in D which blow up at the boundary. We concentrate ourselves to the case where the blowup occurs on the whole boundary. The main tools to derive sharp estimates are the comparison principle and the method of upper and lower solutions. A list of references is given which are closely related to the specific aspects discussed in this survey.
