TMN pilot application functions

In recent years, the building blocks of modern telecom munication systems have become much more complew in structure and operation. At the same time their design is based on increasingly reliable components and an the availability of sophisticated communication networks like CCITT n. 7 and X25. As a consequence, the operation and maintenance of today's systems requires less but more highly qualified personnel, and many network operators are evolving towards the centralization and automation of O&M functions, following the internationally defined Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) that allows the introduction of now functions and the improvement of existing ones. This paper describes the following three pilot applications as defined by Alcatel:
