DEX: A HIGH LEVEL TOOL FOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM EXPERIMENTS

Niraj Sharma, Jagannathan Srinivasan · Purdue e-Pubs (Purdue University System) · 1989

DEX is a high level tool designed to aid distributed system experimentation. It supports a very general model of distributed system and provides features to simulate different communication networks, work loads, failure patterns, and communication delays. It uses UNIX processes and communication mechanisms for implementing a distributed system testbed. The intermediate approach (i.e., neither simulariorrHor experimental) adopted by DEX makes it a useful tool for implementing distributed system lestbeds at 1 ow cost and effort.
