Dimensioning: Real Networks Don't Lose Cells?

Jonathan M. Pitts, John Schormans · 2001

This chapter introduces the importance of combining the cell and burst scale elements in dimensioning a real network. Dimensioning a small buffer for cell-scale queueing only; dimensioning a large buffer for burst and cell-scale queueing. Combining the three different levels of interest in network design: connections level, burst level and cell level.
