Network diversity of random access slotted CDMA networks

Yi Sun · 2003

We propose the utilization of the statistics of retransmitted packets collected from previous transmissions in packet detection. These statistics provide network diversity. With the use of the network diversity, the expected signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) of a packet is increased by 10log/sub 10/J dB at the Jth transmission, and the network presents a "first in/first out" property. The efficiency of bandwidth usage and network delay are then derived for an arbitrary detector. It is demonstrated that the network diversity tremendously increases the bandwidth efficiency and reduces network delay.
