Building Your LinkedIn Network to Create a Self‐Referral Machine
Crystal Thies · 2012
A properly built LinkedIn network will increase the quantity of opportunities because one will be able to self-refer to potential clients instead of waiting for referrals to come to them. There is a spectrum of networking philosophy of which one should be aware. On the one end are closed networkers and the other open networkers. For financial advisors, the author recommends being closer to the closed end of the spectrum. This chapter explains how to add connections to one’s network. The first people on the list should be the clients. The fastest way to grow the LinkedIn network is by importing the contact database. The great part about the importing process is that LinkedIn will match up one’s contacts with the people who have already joined and tell who is already on LinkedIn. The chapter also explains how to send individual invitations to add new people to the network. Controlled Vocabulary Terms Database; LinkedIn; social media
