Neuro-fuzzy performance management of factory automation networks

This paper focuses on performance management of computer communication networks serving manufacturing systems. The performance management aims to improve the network performance in handling various types of messages by on-line adjustment of protocol parameters. The principles of fuzzy logic and neural network have been used in formulating the performance management rules and in deriving management decisions. A performance management procedure developed for IEEE 802.4 protocol standard has been evaluated via discrete event simulation.
