Measuring the Effectiveness of deception in a wireless honeypot
Suen Yek · Australasian Journal of Paramedicine · 2003
Widely publicised weaknesses and inherent vulnerabilities of prevailing 802.11 wireless networks have necessitated network defence strategies that proactively secure such systems. The Deceptive Wireless Honeypot is an experimental research project in progress that will test various deceptive network attacks and countermeasures with the objective of strengthening wireless security. The honeypot will comprise of Honeyd and FakeAP utilising deceptions mapped from a framework. The effectiveness of deceptions will be measured by how well the honeypot withstands network scanning and penetration tools and target buffer overflows.
