Interactive R Programs

Kunio Takezawa · 2012

This chapter introduces simple interactive R programs. Although R programs serve as examples aiming to fulfill a specific function, the techniques in such programs can be used widely when users develop interactive R programs. When polynomial equations are regressed by the least squares method, the degree of a polynomial equation for regression is usually changed one by one to choose the most appropriate one. If the selection of the degree of a polynomial equation and the determination of the characteristics of the regression by a polynomial equation are conducted interactively and continuously, the same operation with another data is carried out easily. To understand the concept of local linear regression, users need to know about the method to obtain each estimate. An interactive program plays an important role for this purpose; it displays the outline of the regression to obtain an estimate in a graph when the estimate is specified. Controlled Vocabulary Terms graphical model; linear regression; polynomial regression; statistical measures
