On the short-term-memory of WTA nets.

Abstract. An exact solution of a system of coupled dierential equa-tions describing the dynamics of a special class of winner-take-all net-works is given. From the solution two properties of the short-term-memory traces are derived: (1) information preservation and (2) a dis-crimination measure. These properties justify a biologically inspired fault tolerant extension of the network using dierentiating neurons. 1
