Teaching template classes with all the advantages

Daniel S. Spiegel · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2008

Template classes in C++ raise issues for instructors, as there are several ways to represent and instantiate them and compilation and linking issues. Some integrated development environments mandate a certain methodology, but none is universally recognized and employed. For non-integrated compilers, there have been several methods suggested in literature. This paper will suggest a method for representing and instantiating template classes under the gnu g++ compiler that eliminates the disadvantages of the others and promotes the most efficient compilation and linking.
