Speech and Video Processing for Homeland Security

Abstract Advances in automated processing of spoken language and video promise new capabilities and methods to enhance homeland security. This article summarizes the challenges posed by searching conversational speech and large‐scale video collections. We conclude by outlining some promising opportunities for future research and the potential benefits that could be derived to enhance homeland security.
