Data Mining Experiments with a Melanoma Data Set

A data set describing melanoma was prepared by the Outpatient Advice Center for Dermatology in Rzeszow, Poland. Our objective was to study the importance of the TDS index, one of the attributes of the data set, broadly used in the initial classification of melanoma tumor diagnosis. Our experiments show that the same accuracy of diagnosis may be accomplished by a data set containing TDS as an attribute and another data set with fewer but more sophisticated attributes without TDS.
