Polya Trees and Their Use in Reliability and Survival Analysis

Timothy Hanson · Wiley StatsRef: Statistics Reference Online · 2014

Abstract The nonparametric Polya tree prior generalizes traditional parametric models such as the Weibull family. Relative to other well‐known priors, such as Dirichlet, gamma, and beta processes, Polya trees have seen more limited use. However, the Polya tree prior has several attractive features, including the existence of survival densities and the ability to be incorporated in different semiparametric models.
