A High-Performance Integrated if Amplifier and Detector for an AM Upconversion Receiver

An integrated bipolar i.f amplifier for an AM upconversion receiver has been realized. At an i.f frequency of 10.7MHz, a 90dB range and 66dB gain are realized. A low-level low-distortion AM detector provides the audio signal as well as an AGC signal. Novel techniques are used to obtain a very constant (within ca. 0.2dB) audio output level and a very constant AGC speed.
