Describing Service Architectures
E. Bertin, Noël Crespi, Guy Pujolle · 2013
This chapter examines the description of service architectures in the telecoms, Web and information technology (IT) communities. It defines architecture as the way in which a system is constituted by basic components for its optimal functioning. The basic components in the telecoms, Web and (IT) communities are network functionalities for Intelligent Network (IN) services, service platforms for Next Generation Network (NGN) services, resources for the Web and software services for service-oriented architectures (SOAs). With urbanization and enterprise architecture (EA) methods, the chapter shows that to orient the conception of these features toward a company's strategy, a target, as well as invariants to use as a basis for identifying these components, to describe their relationships must be identified. These are the service features and Service Independent Building Block (SIBs) for IN services, enablers for NGN service platforms, ontology concepts for Web resources and business process activities for SOA services. Controlled Vocabulary Terms computer networks; fifth generation systems; information technology; intelligent networks; next generation networking; service-oriented architecture
