Service‐Oriented and Cloud Computing Architectures
Ernesto Expósito, Codé Diop · 2014
This chapter introduces the basis of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and the evolution of the various generations of middleware solutions intended to facilitate the development of distributed systems. It intends to justify the decision of using SOA technologies to satisfy the extensibility, integrability and interoperability non-functional requirements of distributed systems. The chapter presents the event-driven architecture (EDA) approach and how large enterprise integration can be achieved with the message-orientation and event-based systems. It gives details about mechanisms and strategies that enable us to control and manage SOA and EDA architectures. Finally, a short introduction to cloud computing and autonomic computing shows how to advance toward the new generation of smart SOA platform as a service well suited for modern distributed and networked systems and applications.
