AN ANALYSIS OF A TRANSISTORIZED AIRCRAFT VOLTAGE REGULATOR

Since the advent of power electrical machinery, the problem of improved voltage regulation has always been a dominate factor. Recently, the Bendix Corporation has designed a new aircraft voltage regulator using transistorized components. This regulator was considered to be a non-linear degenerative feedback unit. Using the well defined procedures of servo analysis, dynamic and frequency response tests were taken of the regulator and the regulator-generator system. These tests were evaluated with a view toward developing a regulator describing function and a system function. The writers wish to express their appreciation for the assistance and time given them by Doctor George J. Thaler, of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in the experimental research of this paper.
