We have previously proposed an autonomous decentralized clustering mechanism for introducing hierarchical structures into ad hoc networks. Our mechanism acts autonomously based only on local information, and adapts flexibly for dynamic environment. Thus our mechanism is a candidate of effective clustering mechanism for ad hoc networks in which network topology is frequently changed by movement of nodes. However, cluster structures created by our mechanism are determined depending on unique environment of the networks. That is, in different networks, cluster structures formed by our mechanism are based on different criteria. Therefore re-construction of cluster structures based on the common criteria is difficult when the fusion of different networks occurs. One of the most important issues to solve this problem is how to introduce the common criterion into the clustering mechanism. In this paper, we propose a mechanism that can form cluster structure based on the common criteria even in different networks.
