A Unified Paradigm: Complex Systems

Thomas E. Madden, Edward J. Giorgianni · 2007

In this chapter, the flexibility and extensibility of the Unified Paradigm are demonstrated in two complex example systems, both of which support diverse arrays of input and output media, devices and image interpretations. The examples illustrate that when appropriate color encoding specifications are used, powerful imaging systems can be assembled by linking simpler system components and sub-systems in various parallel and serial arrangements. The concept of image states also is introduced, and the principles and methodologies of scene-based color encoding and output rendering are explored.
