Perspectives Around DVMS

Flavien Quesnel · 2014

This chapter presents several perspectives around distributed virtual machine scheduler (DVMS). It details the evaluations that should be performed to complete the validation of the prototype. They would be related to the consumption in processor, memory and network of DVMS, the use of real traces to inject a real workload into VMs and the comparison of DVMS with another decentralized approach that can dynamically schedule VMs. Moreover, several solutions are identified to correct the limitations of DVMS regarding fault-tolerance, event management and the handling of links between VMs. The chapter describes some opportunities to extend DVMS, such as to manage VM disk images and infrastructures composed of several data centers connected by means of a wide area network.
