On the interpretation of Tagalog voice affixes
Anja Latrouite, Ralf Naumann · 1999
In this paper we show that the voice affixes /-in/ and /-an/ in Tagalog not only determine the choice of the subject, but also the (aspectual) interpretation of the verb. In the first part we discuss the complex phenomena the voice suffixes are involved in. In the second part we suggest that in order to do justice to the cited data and in order to adequately capture the event-structure-related function of /-in/ and /-an/, a dynamic event semantics may be the appropriate framework.
