WComp, Middleware for Ubiquitous Computing and System Focused Adaptation

This chapter examines three solutions to issues of middleware in ubiquitous computing. Firstly, a dynamic software infrastructure to have access to the heterogeneous software entities used by the application or to sense context is needed. Secondly, there is a need to be able to adapt the application dynamically and create applications on the basis of its current context and the availability of software entities. Thirdly, dynamic adaptation must have a mechanism which is controlled by the user or the context.
