What Should Have Been Done to Make Sure Mr Rowley's Day Really Was Ordinary

Dominique Assing, Stéphane Calé · 2013

This chapter provides an overview of resources and solutions that would ensure information security. It explains various attacks, including contamination of an organization's local network by a worm, theft of information from laptops/smartphones and tablets, theft of bank information using a "falsified" web server, and theft of address book. The chapter concludes with a summary of such attacks as well as the countermeasures that should be implemented by implementing the recommendations of the ISO 27002 standard. Security measures that should be put in place according to the ISO recommendations include using a firewall, installing of an IPS to automatically detect and eradicate infection attempts, disabling of all USB ports on the computer, and deactivating the Bluetooth function in public places.
