Visual C++ (Microsoft)

Blayne E. Mayfield · The Internet Encyclopedia · 2004

Abstract Microsoft Visual C++ continues to evolve as an excellent application development suite. The chapter begins with an overview of the basic components of Visual C++: the interactive development environment, debugger, AppWizard, ClassWizard, and MFC. Most of the remainder of the chapter is devoted to aspects of Visual C++ related specifically to the development of Internet‐aware applications. WinSock is discussed, both with and without MFC, and an example MFC WinSock client–server application is presented. Related topics, such as WinInet and COM, are discussed. Finally, some significant enhancements in Visual C++.NET are listed.
