Bounded Linear Operators on Hilbert Spaces

Israel Gohberg, Seymour Goldberg · Birkhäuser Boston eBooks · 2001

In this chapter, continuous linear functions defined on a Hubert space are introduced and studied. These functions are described by infinite matrices in the same way as linear transformations on ℂ n are represented by finite matrices. In this way the chapter may be viewed as a beginning of a theory of infinite matrices. As may be expected, analysis plays a very important role.
