A Logic Analyser and Prototyping System for Microprocessor Development

The advent of the microprocessor has strongly affected all phases of digital design. It has changed debugging strategies and practices. Fortunately, new hardware and software tools have come on the scene to alleviate the problems created by microprocessor-based systems. Tools such as: Logic Probes, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analysers, Microprocessor Analysers, UP Development Systems, UP System Testers, Portable Digital Testers. The purpose of this paper is to examine the use of two of the above tools. The Tektronix 7D01F2 Logic Analyser and the Tektronix 8002 Disc Based Microprocessor Development System, fitted with the Real Time Trace Option.
