Robust method for threshold setting in a DS/DS-CDMA code acquisition

This paper describes a robust method based on using a rank filter for constant false alarm rate (CFAR) threshold setting during the code acquisition process in a DS and DS-CDMA spread spectrum receiver. The method is robust because the probability of false alarms (P/sub fa/) can be fixed independent of the input signal distribution, i.e., interference conditions. The results are presented for three example P/sub fa/ values.
