A proposed architecture for a control of MPEG-2 stream over the ATM network

This paper presents the hardware architecture of the algorithm of flow control between the MPEG-2 application and the ATM network. The proposed algorithm includes the encapsulation strategy and flow control mechanism in order to improve video visual quality of the MPEG-2 application. The proposed architecture of the algorithm is described and evaluated with the VHDL environment at the RTL level. This validation consists of passing through the architecture a sequence of pictures with different overflow and testing the visual quality of the picture sequence constructed with the algorithm.
