We reported the effect of bisphenol A and its metabolites on the 3T3‐L1 cells, in terms of glucose and lipid metabolism. Bisphenol A metabolites were obtained from the human liver S9 fraction. Bisphenol A significantly increased mRNA level of Sterol Regulatory Element‐Binding Protein (SREBP) and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (CEBP) alpha. Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL) was also significantly influenced by bisphnol A and it metabolite. Acetyl CoA Carboxylase (ACC) and Fatty Acid Synthase (FAS) mRNA level was elevated by bisphenol A as well as its metabolites. Taken all these results together, bisphenol A and it metabolite impaired glucose and lipid metabolism in vitro . Further investigation with synthesized bisphenol A metabolites suggestively needed.
