Automatically real time region of interest detection method applied to radiological images

The real time medical image processing becomes more and more applied during the clinical routines, particularly for the radiological intervention based. In the framework of the abdominal aneurysm pathology treatment by an endovascular prothesis, we are working in developing an image processing approach to assist the endovascular prothesis positioning. In this application, we aim to optimise the total system treatment time by reducing the size of treated image matrix without any loss of useful information during the different steps of treatment. Therefore, a pre-treatment step is necessary to be applied to the radiological images. In this paper, we present two methods to detect automatically the region of interest in the radiological control image which contains only the observed part of the body. These methods are based mainly on the average amplitude projection method applied along all the rows and columns of the image. The time of execution of these methods was an important criterion imposed during the developing
