Earprint Comparison: Automated Systems

Abstract The use of earmark as a means of personal identification has been widely debated in recent years, especially in relation to its associative power. Several systems for automatic comparison have been developed either as investigative tools to manage the search for marks or prints in large databases or to help establish the scientific basis on which an expert may rely to form a conclusion. This article describes these systems and their performances.
