Quantification of performance, connectivity and load-distribution in multiprocessor systems
Walter H. Burkhardt · 2002
Performance in multiprocessor systems depends on the utilization and connectivity of the available resources. The relationship between these parameters has been investigated theoretically and experimentally for a transputer system of different configurations in a quantified manner. Load has two components: average usage and load inequality. Assuming fixed average usage, then load inequality is defined as the standard deviation of the loading factors. The results from the experiments verify the linear relationship between performance and load equality and show an increase in performance by a log-function on the number of connecting links in the system.>
