Service‐Oriented and Component‐Based Transport Protocol
Ernesto Expósito · 2012
This chapter focuses on enhancing software engineering methodology by including modern software architecture approaches, based mainly on the service-oriented and component-based architecture. These approaches have been proposed in order to cope with reusable and extensible software that needs to be largely deployed as common services available in intranet or Internet distributed environments. First, the chapter introduces a state of the art of the service-oriented and component-based architectural paradigms. Based on this study, an ontology model integrating both architectural design approaches is proposed. Second, the chapter presents the guidelines for designing and developing a component-based and service-oriented transport protocol. The chapter ends with a discussion on an ontology-driven architecture approach based on QoS transport ontology. This ontology-driven approach, which can be obtained based on the semantic of FPTP mechanisms, functions, protocols and services, is intended to guide the selection and composition of services and mechanisms for the next generation transport layer.
