The purpose of this study is to examine the cerebral areas related with the emotional attributes involved in words. For this purpose, the primed-evaluation task for the emotional value was used, and during this task, fMRI imaging scans were acquired. The relation between prime and target was controlled as follows; P-P(Positive-Positive), P-N(Positive-Negative), N-P(Negative-Positive), N-N(Negative-Negative). Comparing to the baseline condition, BA 9 and ACC associated with the emotional processing, and BA40, SMG, and BA38 related with the language processing were significantly activated, and the activation pattern of these areas was different across conditions. ROI analysis on the areas revealed that ACC for emotion and BA40 for language were more activated than the other areas, when the relation between prime and target words was N-N. In conclusion, recognizing the words with the emotional attributes involves both emotional areas and language areas, and the activation pattern of these areas are different according to the relation between prime and target along the emotional dimension.
