Transitioning from PECS to a Speech Generating Device

The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) systematically teaches picture-based functional communication via an evidence-based protocol. The PECS protocol combined with the careful selection of device feature options provides a framework for teaching functional use of a speech-generating device (SGD) to ensure spontaneous, interactive, generative communication skills.
