Tracking the Evolution of Feature Oriented Product Lines

Families of programs are steadily emerging in assorted domains where Software Product Line (SPL) paradigm provides a cost-effective development approach. Feature Oriented Programming (FOP) is a specific approach to SPL development where features not only sketch increments in program functionality, but are the building blocks of programs. There exists some analysis on the evolution of SPL (e.g. new feature requirements, technical changes, etc), but do not specifically provide a model to track the milestones of such variability evolution. This paper explores evolution tracking in the context of existing approaches. We track the evolution of Feature Oriented Product-Lines by differentiating the changes from a change base, storing only the deltas.
