Audio and video applications often prefer damaged packets over lost packets. One way for an application to allow delivery of damage packets is to disable checksum. This would, however, that important application-specific headers might pass unverified. Also, in the next version of IP (IPv4), the UDP checksum is mandatory since there is no header checksum in IPv6. UDP lite was introduced to solve this problem by using a partial checksum. In this paper, we introduce an evaluation for the UDP lite. We demonstrate a technique to solve the problem and overcome the drawbacks that found in the UDP lite. Also, we explain a simulated technique to determine a position of bit error and error quantity in the IP and UDP packets. Finally, our proposed technique and transmission of MPEG 4 video streams are simulated.
