Chapter 6 discusses two applications involving the display of bitmap images on Windows. The first application involves manipulating the pixels of an image for producing their monotone color scales using a technique known as bit shifting. The second application involves two elementary methods for finding the edges of an image, the Sobel and Laplacian filtering methods. MFC library supports several GDI functions for performing image processing operations as illustrated in these two examples
